The Brotherhood of Adirus.

An order of wizards, who are disciples of the god of magic and knowledge, Adirus.  When the world was young, and the gods walked among their people, Adirus went to Mt. Nanaran and gave advice and wisdom to the nearby Belannor humans and elf pack.  Serentus, a failed sorcerer, came to the god, who was in a disguise, and asked for advice, Adirus told the man to follow him.  Serentus told him he would only bow down to him if he could out match Serentus's magic.  Adirus robbed Serentus of his powers and revealed himself as a god.  The sorcerer fled in terror, but returned after some years and bowed before Adirus, saying he would be his disciple until death, so Adirus returned his powers.  Serentus, now called Adiroden, "Chosen of Adirus", built a tower at the foot of the mountain, and became the first follower of the god.  Many decades later, when Adiroden was in his early hundreds, a young man, named Darrion, came to the Mountain of Adirus, where he still resided in his tower, seeking redemption.  Darrion was a wizard, so after some years of working with Adiroden, he was made the second disciple of Adirus.  The Brotherhood grew from there, up to seventeen members, Adiroden still being the head disciple.  But then one left and died, four died of curses, three crossed over to dark sorcery, and two died in battle.  The remaining seven; Adiroden, Darath, Asvin, Durthlen, Sunorem, Ulkor, and Wil, continued on as the Brotherhood of Adirus.
